The History of WCK FULL RULES MUAYTHAI
On the first WCK Muay Thai Show of 2014, they have the WBC MuayThai Bantamweight World Champion Jemyma Betrian of Oosterhout, Netherlands defending her title against Thais Souza of Brazil. Thursday, February 13, 2014 If you’ve already made plans to attend the WCK MuayThai show Saturday night at the Pechanga Resort & Casino in Temecula, CA, you should also make certain your video capture device (TIVO, DVR, VHS recorder) is ready. Big news! FOX Sports San Diego just announced their intent to air Saturday night’s Muaythai event “Matter of Pride” live, beginning at 7 p.m., immediately following their broadcast of the University of San Diego Toreros’ versus the New Mexico Lobos’ baseball game, which begins at 4 p.m. With Dennis Warner, In Sync Productions, Inc., WCK Muay Thai, the Pechanga Resort and Casino and Fox Sports behind this show and celebrating the 25th anniversary of WCK Full Rules Muaythai, you got to believe this will be a show of shows with the world’s best fighters plus a host of San Diego talent. More about this impressive fight card. One of their headliners is Jemyma Betrian going up against Brazil’s Thais Souza. While little is known about Souza, Betrian, born January 24, 1991, is a Curacaon Dutch female kickboxer/boxer based in Oosterhout, Netherlands who’s been competing professionally since 2005. She is the WBC MuayThai Bantamweight World Champion. On August 18, 2012, she fought Tiffany Van Soest of San Diego, CA to a majority draw at the Pala Casino in Temecula, CA. The people of WCK Muay Thai sent along the following Jemyma Betrian highlight video.
They also have Zoila “Warrior Princess” Frausto Gurgel of Dublin, CA making an appearance. The former 115 pound Bellator champion, Invicta pro, holds a Black belt in Taekwondo and Blue belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Gurgel debuted in the mixed martial arts on February 13, 2009 and her current MMA record stands at 12-4. Together with her husband, Jorge, they own a Mixed Martial Arts Academy in Cincinnati, Ohio. On Saturday, this Dublin, CA resident will be making her professional Muaythai debut. On her Facebook page she has this thought provoking message which reminds you of the Three “Rs” in elementary school: “The glory isn’t in winning; it is in what you learn about yourself in the struggle. Commit to no Retreat, leave no Reserves and you’ll have no Regrets!
Zoila Frausto Gurgel poses for a photo with Dennis Warner, CEO of InSnc Productions after signing her multi fight deal with WCK Muaythai to make her Pro Muaythai debut. Big thanks went to Invicta for allowing her to have her home with Invicta and yet pursue her dream of becoming a two Sport World Champion. (top) Zoila and husband Jorge pose for photos while assisting in the promotion of a local event. (bottom) The benefit of having so many top female fighters in the same gym (l to r) Miriam Nakamoto, Zoila Frausto Gorgel, Stephanie Frausto and Sarah D’Alelio seems almost unfair for the ladies who have to compete against them. After this provocative photo made its way around the internet most people thought Zoila was about to change her career path and head off to Hollywood. Local San Diego and Riverside, CA standouts will also be featured: Marvin Madariaga, John Vargas, Bryce Krause, Adam Rothweiler and Francisco Garcia. From the West Hollywood neighborhood of “Little Armenia” they added two more standouts – Melisk Baghdasaryan and Levon Sarksyan. This marks the first Muaythai event broadcast live on any of FOX Sports’ platforms since the network initially partnered with WCK Full Rules Muaythai in 2012. And what would a MuayThai show be without the veteran announcing team of Phil Stone and Blinky Rodriguez adding their insights and amusing commentary? Again, if you can’t be there, don’t miss this memorable show on your Fox Sports West channel, 7 p.m., Saturday, February 15, 2014.
